Volunteer
Montclair Elementary runs on parent involvement! Volunteering is a great way to meet others in the community, get to know the kids in the school, improve your child’s educational experience, and have fun while doing it.
There are many opportunities to volunteer for the school – whether you have 30 minutes or 10 hours of time. Anyone is welcome to volunteer as a visitor in projects that do not involve contact with students (such as helping in the office or joining an Otter Walk committee). If you’d like to volunteer with students, you must first register.
Registering to volunteer with students
Before parents are able to volunteer in classes, clearance is required per OUSD volunteer policy which includes DOJ/FBI Fingerprint and Megan’s Law Clearance.
There are two types of clearance:
-
Supervised – Must be supervised by an OUSD employee and need to be registered. Example of this would be volunteering in the classroom with a teacher present.
-
Unsupervised – Receive an ID badge to indicate clearance to volunteer without being supervised by an OUSD employee. Registration and fingerprints required. Upon registration you will receive instructions for this, and teachers will need to be provided with your clearance status. Example would be if you plan to drive several children on a field trip.
