Montclair Dads Club
The Montclair Dads Club is a group for fathers and father-figures of the students of Montclair Elementary School.
Why does the PTA need a Dads Club?
Fathers and father-figures are significantly underrepresented in PTA’s and in the school setting. We specifically invite you to come have a space to gather and build a community on this adventure in fatherhood. Building a strong Dads Club brings in more volunteers for the school, provides an additional outlet for community building, and provides a male role model of service and community for our kids that can last a lifetime.
What does the Dads Club do?
We provide anywhere from individuals to a small army of doers in support of school events, work days, and a few Dads Club lead programs. We also foster a sense of community and camaraderie and build lifelong friendships through monthly meet-ups and self-organized social events.
The Dads Club has a wide variety of skills and abilities, and will accept as much or as little help as you can offer. Membership is casual and free, but the experience is priceless.
OTTERWALK – We provide setup & takedown support for the AV, stage, canopies, etc; are the grill masters of world famous Dads Club tri-tip, burgers & hotdogs; and purvey cotton candy, snow cones, and popcorn to our walkers.
WORK DAY – We tackle a teacher and principal To-Do lists for campus and classroom a few times per year to help keep things running smoothly.
KIDS NIGHT OUT – The Dads’ Club hosts a student dropoff event for pizza, a movie, and occasional dance party on the 1st Friday of the month October through May.
BIKE RODEO – The Dads’ Club creates and facilitates a free biking carnival with bike safety courses, learn-to-ride help, bike-exchange, bike tune-ups, bike decorations, and pedal smoothies (and of course BBQ!).
SOCIAL EVENTS – Join our adult-only community building or fundraising events including brew-fest, poker nights, golf tournament, and camping. Learn to brew beer or just appreciate those who do in our active brewing group.
We meet on the 2nd Wednesday of the month, September through May at 7:30pm.
We encourage fathers and father-figures to be involved in the lives of their children, especially their education. Find out more about how engaged fatherhood is beneficial and rewarding.
